Biting off More than I Can Chew

Well I haven’t actually attempted to eat anything that’s longer than my body. I’ll leave that to my friends the fishes. Also fish can’t really be said to bite off more than they can chew as they don’t chew their food anyway. This statement has more to do with my attempt to start a blog in the middle of all the usual craziness that goes along with grad school and traveling all the time. The current adventure on the horizon is going to Australia with the Khaled Bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation to help survey coral on the Great Barrier Reef. My friend the grouper, however, will not be there as this picture was taken in the Bahamas. What will be there is an incredible diversity of corals for me to identify and that’s also why this first posting is so short. I need to get back to studying species identification.
